This last week has been a great week. There's been a lot more great things that are happening. First off, Elder Whaley is the District Leader again for this area and he does a great job. When the zone leaders called, I was worried that they were calling to ask me to be the district leader, so I was relieved when they said that it was Elder Whaley. I just don't feel prepared enough yet for that and that I wouldn't do that great of a job.
On Tuesday, we met this guy named Ron in the Target parking lot. So we got his information and met with him again on Wednesday, we had a begin teaching lesson and got to know him some more. Turns out that he had been to the church before and somehow he had lost contact. We then went and saw him on Thursday we taught about the Restoration and after we shared Joseph Smith's experience we extended the invitation to be baptized. Not only did we invite him to be baptized, but also set a date with him for March 15. He kept relating himself to Joseph Smith on how he felt that he to has been searching for that true church and that he has finally found it. He then came to church on Sunday and loved the talks that were given by Elder Kopischke and Elder Nelson. He told us that he felt something there that he has been desiring to feel in a long time. We met with him again after church and he asked about how we can know when we are truly forgiven of our sins. So we read Alma 36 with him when Alma is telling his son Helaman about his conversion story. We had a great lesson about repentance and knowing how to get ride of those ill feelings. We also moved his baptism date up to February 15. I am really excited for him and this will be the first person that I have taught from ground zero to baptism.
We had a great training Saturday morning in Brandon with Elder Kopischke (1st Presidency of the Seventy). It was a really good training. He talked about how we can make our visions come true, and that is 1)Being as obedient as possible, 2)Pure as possible, 3)Plan as best as possible, 4)Work as hard as possible. He also talked about how we need to find more rules and obey them, so that we can receive more blessings. We then had the Evening Session of Stake Conference and there were many great talks that we given about "Hastening the Work". Then Sunday morning it was broadcasted to 48 Stakes in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Elder Kopischke spoke there again, as well as Elder Nelson. They gave really great talks as well. I wish that I had my notes with me. Elder Nelson talked about the different facets of Doctrine, comparing to the facets of a diamond.
Yesterday we were able to go and give Bro. Rios a blessing with Bishop Bangerter. And I really feel like his hear is softening up and that we can start working with him pretty soon. The Spirit was defiantly there and it really touched Bro. Rios and his family.
There's not much more to talk about right now. Thank you so much for the letters and emails each week. I will try to get to writing you back more when I can find some time. Loves you all!
Love, Elder Leavitt
